Banda Aceh, 6 February 2024 Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) is enhancing its Green Campus initiative through a structured plan to upgrade existing buildings to higher energy efficiency standards, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
The program focuses on practical energy improvements appropriate for tropical architecture, including the replacement of conventional lighting with LED systems, installation of smart energy monitoring, and expansion of natural ventilation and daylight utilization to reduce reliance on air conditioning and artificial lighting. Rooftop solar infrastructure is also being prepared on selected buildings to increase the share of renewable energy on campus.
